Death Or Serious Injury From Nursing Home Abuse

There have been incidents and reports of fatalities occurring as a result of nursing home abuse and neglect. Nursing home residents can become disoriented and wander into a situation inside or outside the nursing home that ends up in the death of the patient. They could walk into an unsafe zone or hazardous situation because nobody is watching them. Patients who are prone to wander should be watched closely. I have heard of an incident where a resident who should have been assisted was left alone in her nursing home room to eat—the patient choked and no one was around to help—this is nursing home abuse in the form of neglect. Watch out for broken bones—rough handling of he patient can cause this. The nursing home should always notify the family of abuse signs.
