It has had a rich tradition of producing some of the most talented plastic surgeons over time. In the early 1900s, Dr. E. Fulton Risdon started practicing plastic surgery, before the commencement of the World War when no one had even thought about it. He was the country’s first certified plastic surgeon and he practiced his art for 45 years before retiring. This has led to the universities of Toronto and Montreal paying special emphasis to plastic surgery for developing the art.
