Regardless of the reasons the Centers for Disease Control views diabetes so seriously that they have categorized Diabetes Mellitus Type 2 as an epidemic.

Diabetes Mellitus Type 2 is different from the Type 1 diabetes in several ways. Type 1 is associated with ketoacidosis. This is a condition where the body triggers the liver to start breaking down fat and proteins. This is similar to reaction in the bodies of people on a hunger strike. The liver thinks that there is a lack of nutrition and reacts by breaking down fat and protein.
