Having A Family Member With Macular Degeneration Increases Your Risks

October 5th, 2008 | by admin |

Do you know someone in your family who has been diagnosed with a disease of the eye called macular degeneration? If the person in your family is a parent or a close relative, then the risks of you possibly developing the disease are increased. There are also other risk factors that can increase the possibility of being diagnosed with the disease. However, if you know someone in your immediate family who has macular degeneration, you need to have an eye examination, especially if you are over the age of fifty. Please also be aware that if you are a smoker, your risk increases as well.
