Preparation For Stomach Cancer Surgery

December 7th, 2007 | by admin |

Stomach surgery done for cancer needs necessary preparation in terms of operation, whether it is total gastrectomy or partial gastrectomy. Preparations are necessary because it is a major operation involving the gastrointestinal tract. The operation is performed in general anesthesia in the Operation Theater. Doctor in charge can admit you a day before the operation or on the same day. Prior to the surgery, food and water are restricted for eight to nine hours. Doctor can even stop you from having usual medication or can prescribe another one.
