Prostate Surgery Process

June 26th, 2008 | by admin |

During a laparoscopic prostate surgery operation, five small incisions are made in the lower abdominal area. Then, through one of the incisions made below the navel, a small tube is passed into the abdominal cavity. These tubes are used for passing carbon dioxide gas, in order to lift the walls of the abdomen. This is done to provide the surgeon with a better view of the inside of the abdomen. The surgeon then uses a laparoscope as a part of the laparoscopic prostate surgery operation, to guide him through the abdominal cavity. The laparoscope then relays the images of the prostate onto the video monitor.
