Diverticular Disease Manifestations

Appropriate tests can distinguish among the three conditions–important because such therapy as surgery, for example, may be essential for some patients with bleeding diverticula but is virtually never advisable for those with uncomplicated diverticulosis. A high-bulk preferably employing natural bran, appears to be most beneficial to patients with painful diverticulosis but is also recommended for those with diverticulitis, even after surgery.
