How Does A Stomach Stapling Surgery Work?

August 16th, 2008 | by admin |

Stomach stapling is also commonly known as sleeve gastroplasty or vertical-banded gastroplasty. This is a restrictive surgery that you may consider for weight loss, if the other traditional methods of dieting don’t seem to work for you. The stomach stapling surgery basically restricts the quantity of food intake by making the patient feel full sooner and thereby leading to weight loss.

The surgery marks a distinction in the stomach as it isolates a small part of it for food processing and allows an intake of just a few food ounces. The digestion is also reduced as the food is forced to pass via the restrictive ring.
