Keeping your Diabetes & Cholesterol Well Monitored

April 23rd, 2009 | by admin |

Getting your cholesterol levels checked at a minimum of once a year if you have diabetes is recommended. You should also get your triglyceride levels checked at the same time. If your doctor finds that your diabetes & cholesterol are not working well with each other, there are ways that you can help to get your cholesterol back to healthier levels. Avoid foods that are high in cholesterol. These include most animal based foods such as egg yolks, whole dairy products and meat. A small amount, when eaten in moderation, is acceptable, as long as you don’t overdo it. When your cholesterol is down to an acceptable level, you can be sure that the linings of your arteries are being cleared, insuring a longer life, free of heart disease while living with diabetes.
